Accessibility

What we do so that this website works for everyone, and how to tell us about a problem.

Last updated
25 October 2026

mixlyra aims to make mixlyra.org usable on any device, in any browser and with any assistive technology. This statement sets out what has been done, which shortcomings remain and how to report a problem.

Accessibility is treated as part of building and maintaining this website, not as a separate project. Whenever a page is added or the design is changed, we check that the content can still be read with a screen reader, operated with a keyboard and enlarged in the browser. This statement covers the pages published under mixlyra.org.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site is currently partially conformant: most content meets the guidelines, while the points listed below do not yet. Where a requirement cannot be met right away, we provide the information in another way.

If a page on mixlyra.org does not work for you, the same information can be obtained without using the website. We can be reached by telephone on 01904 557316, by email at [email protected] and by post at 14 Navigation Road, York YO1 7EP. On request we will forward the content of a page in another form, for example as a plain text document.

If you encounter a barrier on this website, or cannot obtain information that you require, please inform us by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01904 557316. It helps if you identify the page, describe what happened and mention the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five working days.

Some pictures are general illustrations and carry a short alternative text rather than a detailed description.

Pages are built with semantic HTML: headings follow a single order, lists are marked as lists and links say where they lead. Navigation and content form separate regions, the language of each page is declared, and informative images have alternative texts while decorative ones are marked as such.

Colours are selected so that body text, links and buttons maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against their background. Font sizes are expressed in relative units, so that text can be enlarged in the browser without content being cut off. Links, menus and form fields can be operated using the keyboard alone.

This statement was prepared on 25 October 2026 on the basis of our own review. We checked the main page types with a keyboard, with increased zoom and with a screen reader; no external audit was commissioned. The statement is reviewed once a year and after any major change to the website.
